Homa, an ancient Greek poet, mentioned the race of the horse drawn chariot, which has been considered to be the oldest record of the horse racing. However, the inscription on the stone inscription found in Asia Minor shows that the king of Assyrian had a full-time trainer for several hundred years before the war. In the 7th Century B.C. there were four carriages. About 40 years after the emergence of the four-horse horses, the horse race was driven by the rider, which was the real beginning of horse racing. But horse-racing events such as modern horse-racing that attracted spectators began in ancient Greece and Rome. In the heyday of the Roman Empire, there were horse racing, horse riding, and so-called Roman horse racing. There were frequent racehorses, professional horse-racing staff, runways, disputes over race rules, lawsuits about doping horses, betting on horses, and rioting among spectators.
For the past 300 years, the Royal Ascot Jockey Club has been the most luxurious jockey club around the world, and the traditional British people are very proud of it. In 1711, Queen Anne of England founded the event. Located in Berkshire, not far from Windsor Castle, the Royal Ascot Jockey Race has been held every summer in Berkshire for 300 years, except for 2005, when it was relocated to Yorkshire as a result of repairs to the Berkshire Stadium. In 1913, the British Parliament passed a bill announcing the creation of a Board of Directors, which became a private company in 2001, continuing to host this “great event created by a great monarch of England 300 years ago.” For hundreds of years, it was the main reason why the Jockey Club was called the Royal Ascot m Jockey Club.
In 1807, the Royal Ascot Jockey Club for the first time designated the third day of the race as “Golden Cup Day” because it was the most crucial and busiest day of the race. But many Britons, including the royal family, call Golden Cup Day a Lady’s Day. Queen Anne was one of the women who supported the Ascot Jockey Club from the start, because it attracted a large number of female spectators.
The Queen’s horses will also compete, and it is considered a great honor for knights to ride a horse race dedicated to the Queen. The Ascot Jockey Club has a total prize of £3 million. The Gold Cup, the Royal Hunting Cup and the Queen’s Vase are the prizes of the three victorious knights.
